Ms. Koluman Darcan was born in Mardin in 1969 and completed her primary and secondary education in Izmir. She graduated from Ege University Faculty of Agriculture in 1989. In 1989, She started her master’s and doctorate education in Cukurova University Faculty of Agriculture as an assistant and completed her master’s and doctorate education on Sheep and Goat Breeding in 2000. She became Assistant Professor in 2001, Associate Professor in 2003 and Professor in 2008 at the same university. Currently she is Dean of Agricultural Faculty of Cukurova University.
She founded Çukurova University Tufanbeyli and Feke Vocational Schools. She was the director of Feke Vocational School between 2011-2014. Between 2018-2021, She was the Head of the Department of Animal and Breeding of the Department of Animal and Breeding of the Faculty of Agriculture of Ç.Ü. Faculty of Agriculture and since September 2023, she has been the Head of the Department of Animal and Breeding of the Faculty of Agriculture of Ç.Ü. Faculty of Agriculture. She worked as a consultant and coordinator for 14 UN/FAO projects on the border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan between 2010-2013. She is on the referee and editorial board of many national and international SCI-Expanded journals. She has published international collaborative studies on climate change and animal husbandry and reference publications in the world literature. She has served in the management and scientific boards of many NGOs in Adana and Turkey. In 2018, She established Koluman-Gen Livestock R&D company and provides consultancy and mentoring to the private sector on the project design of agricultural enterprises within ÇUKUROVA UNIVERSITY TEKNOKENT. She provides international trainings on Feasibility Preparation and Mentoring, Project Cycle. She is on the board of directors of the International Goat Association headquartered in the U.S.A.
She served as a project referee in the European Union Horizon 2020- SUSAN projects in 2015. Since 2019, She has been working as “Project Coordinator and Ministerial Advisor” at the TRNC Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She has published 6 books, 7 international book chapters and 561 national and international scientific articles. She took part in more than 80 national and international projects and organized 35 Scientific Meetings, 18 of which were international. She is the producer and presenter of the programs “Small Bovine Specialist” which is broadcasted every week on Çiftçi TV and “Ideal Small Bovine and Small Bovine with Nazan Hoca” on Köy TV. She has worked as a volunteer in the establishment and project design of many women’s cooperatives and women’s cooperative unions in Adana province. In 2023, she also served as a consultant for the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Board. She speaks English fluently. She is the mother of 1 son.
