Alexandrina Sirbu is a Full Professor (tenure) of Food Science and Technology, Food Safety, Quality Management, and Auditing of organizations (since 2007) and Head of the Research Center in Tourism and Lasting Development at Constantin Brancoveanu University of Pitesti (UCB), FMMAE Ramnicu Valcea (Romania). She received her Ph.D. from the Ministry of National Education (MEN) – Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (ULBS) in Industrial Engineering -Food Science and Technology in 2000 and a master’s in Private Law at UCB in 2016. Lately, she has become Prof. Habil. and Ph.D. supervisor at the University of Life Sciences “King Mihai I” from Timișoara (USV-Tm).
She has more than 30 years of experience in higher education (HE reaching by contest, from assistant professor to full professor), and she has practical experience in lectures and courses taught, research and outreach/extension activities, working at the ULBS, USAMV Bucharest, and UCB. She is a food scientist with manifold achievements in the life sciences (including consumer behavior, food safety, quality assurance, standardization, innovation, process control, baking technology, and food sustainability). She is an experienced Technical Consultant (freelancer) with a demonstrated history of working for the food industry, certification bodies (e.g., SRAC, TUV Karpat), and education & research units. Thus, her professional work has been extended from education (HE and VET) to research-innovation (RDI) and knowledge transfer to industry and other stakeholders. She also plays a reviewer and evaluator of many international journals and projects under her expertise. She has (co-)authored about 200 scientific papers, 25 books, and one national patent; and belongs to several recognized journals’ editorial boards and membership to some national and international professional associations – e.g., she is currently a member of the Technical Committee for Standardization ASRO (ASRO/NMC/TC 95), of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), Chair of the Valcea branch AGIR (The General Assoc. of the Engineers in Romania), and Co-chair Europe, WG Consumer Perception – GHI (Global Harmonization Initiative).
